I have (gathering dust) an atom based system that cannot handle my ASI294. I doubt the Atom would work well with much more than an ASI224 or similar small sensor. But much depends on the camera size and CPU. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.Ĭompute sticks can work well. I think there are a couple on AM right now. You should be able to find either the Lodestar or Ultrastar used. Here’s a capture of the Helix Nebula I made the night of the Fourth of July. They should work well with your C8, but you will need some focal reduction or Hyperstar to get a wider FOV with the smaller sensors. I have used the Lodestar and Ultrastar for over five years now and they still give me many nights of pleasure viewing the night skies. SLL was developed by Paul Shears in the UK and many found it to be perhaps the best EAA/live view software ever written. There are many users, including myself, who still use an SX Lodestar or Ultrastar. Unfortunately, it only works with SX cameras. The native program I use exclusively is Starlight Live. I believe that some here have successfully used emulator programs to use SC on a Mac. Can anyone recommend software that would be comparable to Sharpcap? My goal for now is just to be able to view my SCT through the laptop. I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch laptop that I’d like to use for EAA.
